I have an ariens 1128 snowblower with an oh318sa engine. The mechanism to engage the flywheel is faulty probably the solenoid that activates it is either faulty it moves its internal parts to make contact and so the. Unintentional sparking can result in an electric shock or a fire. Starter spins but doesn t engage.

Disconnect spark plug wire and keep away. You hear it spinning like any electric motor free spinning sound no clicks no grinding sound. If your snow blower electric starter does not respond when the starter switch is engaged the switch or motor may be broken. If you press the starter switch and nothing happens at all first check the power cord that connects to the starter to make sure the starter is receiving sufficient power.
